The first step to a healthy body is a healthy mind. I mean if you want to accomplish anything the first step is for your mind to realize a need or desire for that accomplishment. If there's anything that the mind or sub conscience desires or needs the heart or body will find a way to accomplish that.
Take a drug addict for example. A drug addict may start off as a recreational drug user just using it to get "high" or maybe just feel better. If he/she continues to use the substance his/her mind convinces the body that it needs that substance and therefore develops a dependency on it.
An exercise fanatic (or dieter...insert any name you like in here) is just like that drug addict. He/she starts off with the purpose of maybe losing a little weight or maybe getting a litter more fit or "in shape" then before long he/she is addicted to the physical aspects of it and the mind convinces the body of a dependency on it.
I once was an avid smoker. I smoked on average 2 packs of cigarettes a day and probably burned another pack in the ashtray. I would light one up, lay it down in the ash tray, get busy doing something else, and wind up letting most of it burn up on its own. The habit was in reaching for a cigarette and lighting it up. Well, no one in the world has ever tried to quit smoking more times than I had until I decided that that was what I wanted to do. Then it was no problem to quit. I quit "cold turkey" and never looked back.
So, in a nutshell if you are overweight and out of shape and you want to look better and feel better about yourself the first thing you have to do is to convince your mind that your body needs or desires that and it will happen.
